History:
Launched as the European Causeway on the 20th of March 2000 and after fitting out she sailed on her delivery voyage to Larne, arriving there in August, 2000. After a week of trials at both Larne and Cairnryan, she entered service on the route on the 14th of August 2000.
Her outstanding performance to date prompted P&O to order a sister ship for the route for 2002. The only blemish on her record so far is an unceremonious collision with the quay in Larne which damaged her bow fender and saw her out of service for 2 days. Another power failure occurred in August 2002 while the Causeway was entering Larne Lough. She swung round in the harbour and clipped a small yacht tied up at an off-shore mooring in the lough. She was back in service later that day after only missing one round trip.
